About

In 2014, Bad Tags started in a kitchen after one too many glasses of red wine.

Inspired by a spoiled bulldog named Moose (with a full-blown personality complex), nothing on the market matched his vibe.

Bored with the plain pet store tags, our founder Cristen decided she’d just make her own, despite having absolutely no idea what she was doing.

Meet Cristen, Founder

Bad Tags started in 2014 thanks to Cristen’s bulldog Moose, who needed a tag as cheeky as his personality. Moose may be gone, but his spirit still lives on in the sayings that started it all.

What began as a hobby quickly turned into a full-time business. In 2016, Cristen left her career as a Registered Nurse to go all in.

These days, she runs Bad Tags while managing a chaotic crew of rescued dogs, chickens, ducks, emus, goats, and two pot-bellied pigs.

Jessica, Executive Assistant

Jessica joined the team in 2019 and quickly became our right-hand everything.

She runs shipping like a machine and handles laser engraving like a pro - basically making sure your tags actually get made and out the door.

When she’s off the clock, Jess is deep in the world of cat memes and camping trips around Colorado with her family.

Amy, Lead Graphic Designer

Amy joined the team in 2020 and is the creative brain behind our coolest tag designs. She also helps keep daily production running smoothly.

Off-duty, she runs a full-blown hobby farm in Indiana. Her kingdom includes her husband, rescue dogs, hamsters, chickens, rabbits, ducks, goats… and a turkey named Barb.

When she’s not managing her farm empire, Amy keeps things cozy with gardening, knitting, crafting, and reading.

Dan, Role: TBD

Dan spent years behind the scenes as the bookkeeper, accountant, and financial adult in the room.
Also… Cristen’s husband.

He officially joined full-time in 2026 and now does a little bit of everything:
customer support, laser engraving, and whatever else needs fixing that day.
